Drayage rate manager FAQ

Answers about requesting, comparing, and managing drayage rates with BidSource.

What is a drayage rate manager?

Software that centralizes how you request, receive, and compare drayage (container trucking) rates from carriers, so pricing lives in one system instead of scattered inboxes and spreadsheets. BidSource does this for lanes between ports, rail ramps, and warehouses.

How do I request drayage rates from carriers?

Create a rate request with the lane, equipment, and the accessorials you want quoted, then send it to one or many carriers. Replies are collected against the request, so you can see who has answered and compare quotes side by side.

Do carriers need to log in or change how they quote?

No. Carriers keep sending the same email or rate sheet they send today. BidSource reads the reply — including a PDF, spreadsheet, or photo of the sheet — and pulls out the base rate, fuel, and accessorials, so nobody retypes quotes.

Can I compare carrier rates by lane?

Yes. Rates are organized by lane, so you can compare carriers for a given origin and destination, see how pricing has moved over time, and pick the best option for each move.

How are drayage accessorials like chassis, pre-pull, detention, per diem, and fuel handled?

They are captured as separate line items alongside the base rate, so quotes from different carriers stay comparable and the all-in cost is visible before you commit.

Can I track which quotes I won or lost?

Yes. Mark quotes as won or lost and review win/loss results by lane and carrier to sharpen your pricing over time.

How quickly can I price a customer RFP?

In minutes if your carrier buy rates are already in BidSource: the customer's lane file comes in, lanes are priced from those rates, and the bid goes back out.

Can I export or share rates?

Yes. Rates can be exported to CSV and PDF for customers, sales teams, or your own records.

How do I get started, and what does it cost?

Start with a call to walk through your current rate process and where BidSource fits; the team scopes a rollout for your carrier network and lanes. Pricing depends on network size and lane volume, so there is no fixed self-serve price.
